Library Day
Because of the PA day last week, our Library day is now pushed back to Wednesdays. Please put this on your calendar.
Don't forget to send back library books and levelled readers.
I've had the chance to read individually with each student over the past two weeks and I've seen lots of improvements. I am very impressed! Keep up the good work and please continue to bring back the levelled readers. Reading 'just right' books is very important.

Dictée
On Thursday I completely forgot to hand out the new dictées, sorry about that !
I am posting the new one in the Dictée tab, and they will be handed out tomorrow.
I would like to say I have been very impressed with everyone's results, and impressed with the large majority of the class who choose to do the sentences.
I am hoping the sentences aren't putting too much pressure to study at home. If in any given week you would like your child to take a break from the sentences, please do not hesitate to do so. If you do choose to take a break from the sentences, make sure you at least read them over with your child and make sure they understand each word. If you are comfortable enough with your French, you may look over the sentences together and point out certain things. For example, this week you may look at the "une autre gaufre" you can infer that gaufre is feminine. For "des chevaux", notice that we use an x for plural.
Working on the sentences can really help your child's French, as well as their understanding of the structure of a sentence.
This week, the sound is "au". Please discuss how it makes the same sound as "eau".
You can discuss other sounds that make the "o" sound: aux, eaux, oh

Chef Day
This Friday we are having a special guest. Neeve's father will be in at the end of the day to make a home-made fruit dip with us. We are very excited and it will tie in nicely with our unit on nutrition ! We are talking about making healthy choices, so if you would like, you can take this as an opportunity to discuss the importance of eating healthy and remaining active at home too.
Math
In math we are continuing our unit on 2D shapes, as well as working on mastering our addition. I am very impressed with the students who have been bringing back the Mad Minutes to show me! Some were even timed, and I am seeing improvements. :)
Up next in Math we will be doing our unit on telling time. Feel free to look at this at home with your child on the different types of clocks in your home. Any background knowledge and experience at home can always facilitate learning in class.

Cursive
We will be working on some cursive in class. We will do some practice lessons and I will be sending home some practice sheets for those who are interested in practicing their cursive.
This is not required, but writing cursive can help children to read faster and easier, and train their fine motor skills through the increased physicality of cursive writing.
I have added some photos in the Photos tab.
Have a great week,
Mlle Jordan
